About Us
The Pop-Up That Sparked a Movement
At first, the vision was modest but profound. Our co-founders, Anisha Hines and Jodi-Ann Campbell, planned to open a one-month pop-up shop at Woodbine Mall in Etobicoke, Ontario. It was meant to be a short, but impactful event featuring diverse brands from across Toronto. However, the response they received was anything but modest.
The community embraced their presence with open arms. Shoppers from all walks of life reveled in the opportunity to celebrate and support Black-owned businesses. It was within the welcoming embrace of Woodbine Mall community that Anisha and Jodi-Ann realized the importance of the cultural representation they offered and the powerful impact they could make.
A Collective Vision Takes Shape
This one-month pop-up evolved into something much greater. Anisha and Jodi-Ann recognized that KWM was more than a store—it was a symbol of unity, a hub for celebration, and a platform for economic empowerment. It became a testament to what could be achieved when a community comes together with a shared vision.
Through this experience, Keep Wealth Melanated was born. An organization that transcended commerce, becoming a movement rooted in passion, commitment, and a collective dream for a brighter, more equitable future.
